Symbol Industrial and enterprise ruggedised handhelds use pocket pc, WinCE across their range of products. Although tools are available to develop application for individual platforms, GoDB Offers a unified development environment across all symbol handhelds. GoDB provides strong integration with scanners , printers and other peripherals that are available in symbol devices.

Applications developed on GoDB run without any code changes or recompiling on all Symbol devices (Pocket PC, WinCE).

GoDB also supports Occasionally Connected computing platform that let you develop applications that are online when the network is available and can operate in offline modes when the network is not available and can synchronize data to the GoDB Sync Server when the network becomes available. As the sync engine in GoDB also allows synching of applications you can easily update applications by pushing patches, updates and enhancements to the applications from the Sync Server.

As GoDB comes with a embedded RDBMS data storage and retrieval can be done using standard SQL with the sync module synchronizing the local RDBMS with a server database thru the sync server. Sync server lets the users sync data securely, allows developers to set Horizontal and Vertical partitioning rules to select the data based on the client.

GoDB allows use of Burst or Continuous WLAN based applications to be developed.
