IP Surveillance solutions have emerged as an attractive alternative to its predecessor CCTV, as the digitization enables numerous avenues to innovate and integrate with other systems. Some key advantages are - automation software, motion detection, real-time data, cost efficiency, adaptability.

An IP Surveillance system broadly consists of

• Hardware: IP cameras, DVR/NVR, Display units (LCDS, LEDS etc)


IP Netowrk Camera (IPNC) is the primary component in a video surveillance solution. These use Internet Protocol to transmit image data and control signals over a normal Ethernet link. These cameras deployed together with a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or Network Video Recorder (NVR) form a complete video surveillance system. These systems are faster and highly efficient for a real-time video streaming.


• Software: Applications to monitor / record / store the video or data


For viewing and configuring the IP cameras in a network, there are Software components ranging from simple web based camera viewers to complex Video Management Systems (VMS).
